Writing the Essay is a expository writing class. It’s notorious at NYU for being an extremely difficult class that every CAS, Steinhardt, and Stern student hates. The warnings people give you are terrifying!

From Children in Iraq

Absolutely love and adore this. Iraqi children showing kindness and humanity for people who never even give them a second thought. Last night I watched an interview of an Iraqi man and he said “We understand what just happened in the streets of America all too well. This is the reality here, we are deeply sorry that now you have to feel the same pain that we do. It shouldn’t be your pain or ours. You’re in our prayers.”
I love the people of my country. Such beautiful compassionate souls.

i want to cry because i don’t know if these children realise or not that a very very large majority of people in the united states do not care about them, and even wish death on their people.
lord

They know it, and boy do they know it. They know that their lives does not account for what American life does, and they know that Americans will continue to live their lives as they hear of Iraqis being bombed and killed by these attacks. But that’s what makes this image so more beautiful, knowing what they do, they continue to push for solidarity (even with people who don’t want it). Knowing that these people are the same people who pushed for the military occupation of Iraq, they will still show love and send prayers.
That’s what makes these children so wonderfully amazing, because a hundred Americans could not make up for an inch of compassion that they have, but they will still show American civilian death the same courtesy and respect they wish they received.

These children are beautiful examples of the best humanity has to offer.
